라무 항 개발 프로젝트에 열심인 한국 투자자들

한국의 투자자들은 인프라와 서비스 분야에서 케냐의 혁신적인 정책들에 많은 관심을 보여 왔다.

라무 항 종합개발사업(Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport, LAPSSET)의 총 책임자 Silver Kasuku는

서울에서 열린 글로벌 인프라 협력 컨퍼런스(Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference)에서

​‘LAPSSET 프로그램 투자 기회’ 라는 주제로 600명이 넘는 주요 투자자들을 대상으로 발표를 했다

. 그는 투자자들이 이 LAPSSET 프로젝트에 엄청난 관심을 가지고 있다고 말했다

.

Kasuku 책임자가 이끄는 케냐의 LAPSSET 대표단은

투자자들과 함께 어떻게 케냐에 투자할 것인지 또 그 전망에 대해 토의하기 위한 일련의 회의를 열었다

.

LAPSSET 프로그램은 이번 해 원유 파이프라인에 대한 PRE-FEED 연구뿐만 아니라

라무 항의 정박지 건설을 시작으로 도약할 태세를 갖추었다.

Isiolo - Marsabit - Turbi - Moyale를 잇는 505km의 도로는 3년 이내로 완공될 것으로 보이는 반면에

라무의 C112 도로는 2015년에 건설하기 시작할 것으로 예상된다.

 

에티오피아 역시 Moyale와 남부 에티오피아의 Hawassah를 잇는 약 500km 길이의 길을 건설하고 있다.

Lamu - Garissa - Isiolo - Lokichar을 잇는 도로의 설계는 진행 중이며,

 Nakodok - Lodwar - Kitale A1 도로는 이미 설계가 완료 되었다.

한국의 금전적 제의를 환영하며 Kasuku는 “한국 정부의 이러한 태도는 케냐 정부 담당자들이 고 가치의 국가적 인프라를 전달 받을 때에 발생하는 위기, 헌신 그리고 정밀성을 이해하는데 있어 그들의 능력을 강화시키는 데에 큰 도움을 줄 것이다.”라고 말했다.

 

동부와 중부 아프리카의 무역과 운송의 주요 허브로서의 케냐의 위치는 이제 높아졌다. 국제 경영 관리(Busines Monitor International, BMI) 분석자들은 케냐를 많은 투자를 할 요소와 성장 전망의 요소도 있는 지역으로써 평가했다.

2014-2018년 글로벌 성장 전망에 대한 발표에서 국제 경영 관리(Busines Monitor International, BMI)는

케냐가 동부와 중부 아프리카의 무역, 운송, 물류 허브의 거점으로서 입지가 더욱 높아졌다고 말했다

. 국제 경영 관리(Busines Monitor International, BMI) 분석자들은 케냐를 투자 가치가 높고 전망성 있는 지역이라고 평가했다.

Kenya: South Korean Investors Keen On Lapsset Project

Nairobi — South Korean investors have developed deep interest in Kenya following the country's progressive policies in infrastructure and services sectors.

 

Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor Development Authority Director General Silvester Kasuku says the investors have a huge interest in the LAPSSET Corridor project following his presentation on 'Investment Opportunities in the LAPSSET Corridor Programme' to over 600 prime investors during the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference in Seoul.

 

The Kenyan delegation from LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority led by the Kasuku held a series of meetings with the investors to discuss prospects and how to invest in Kenya.

 

This comes as the LAPSSET Corridor Program is poised for a major takeoff with expected commencement of the construction of the first three berths of Lamu Port this year, as well as PRE-FEED studies on the crude oil pipeline this year.

Construction of Lamu - Witu - Garsen C112 Road is expected to commence in 2015 while construction works are at an advanced stage for the 505km Isiolo - Marsabit - Turbi - Moyale Road which is expected to be completed within the next three years.

Ethiopia is also constructing approximately 500kilometre between Moyale and Hawassah in the southern part of Ethiopia while design studies are also ongoing for the Lamu - Garissa - Isiolo - Lokichar road stretch while designs are already completed for Nakodok - Lodwar - Kitale A1 road section.

 

Kasuku also revealed that the government of South Korea has offered scholarships for specialized training to Government of Kenya officers working on LAPSSET Corridor Projects.

The two month training programmes will be run in Seoul beginning the fourth quarter of 2014 with field assignments in different parts of South Korea.

The courses will include field assignments in different parts of Korea will cover Design; Construction and Management of High-value Infrastructure Projects; and Master Planning of New Cities.

Besides training costs, the Government of South Korea offered to cover travel and accommodation costs for selected Government of Kenya officers.

Lauding the offer, Kasuku said: "This gesture by the Government of South Korea will go a long way towards strengthening capacity of government of Kenya officers to understand the urgency, dedication and precision in delivery of high value priority national infrastructure".

 

Kenya's position as a key East and Central Africa's trade, transport and logistics hub was particularly augmented in an opening presentation by Business Monitor International (BMI) on global growth prospects for 2014-2018.

The BMI analysts rated Kenya as a major stabilising factor in the region with very high investment and growth prospects.
