미국, 나이지리아에 전기 100MW 공급

미국 투자 협력단이 나이지리아 전력 지원 및 투자에 관심을 보임에 따라

전기분야에의 투자와 전력 공급량을 증가시키고자 했던 나이지리아 연방정부가 힘을 얻게 되었다.

전기 분야는 약 2억 1200만 달러의 투자가치를 가지며

 2015년 3분기부터 나이지리아의 송전선망에 100MW의 전기가 추가 공급 될 것으로 기대된다.

이 사업에 관심을 보인 회사는 ‘Global Business Resources USA’, ‘Global Resources Network USA’,

‘Flatbush Solar USA’ 그리고 ‘Charbourne &Parke, LLP USA’이다.

‘Global Business Resources USA’의 경영 파트너가 이끄는 'James Nicholas'의 사업체는

나이지리아 투자진흥위원회(Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, 이하 NIPC)의 ‘Saratov Umar’를 만나 의견을 나눴다.

‘Nicholas’는 미국 오바마 대통령의 파워 아프리카 계획 아래 재생가능한 에너지 개발부분에서 기회를 보고 있었다고 말했다.

그는 이미 아부자의 배급회사와 논의를 시작했고 카노(Kano)를 방문해 이 사업과 계획을 어떻게 실행에 옮길 것인지를 논의할 계획이다.

이어 그는 “시골 전력화 사업에 착수하여 시골에 사는 사람들에게도 전기를 공급하고 앞으로의 상황을 모니터하여

전기를 안전하게 사용할 수 있는 기반을 제공하고자 한다.”고 덧붙였다.

이에 대해 ‘Umar’는 나라의 경제발전에 매우 중요한 전기에 대한 투자와 도움에 대해 감사를 표했다.

‘Umar’는 협력사들에게 필요한 모든 지원을 아끼지 않을 것을 약속하며

NIPC가 연방정부를 대신하여 나이지리아 경제에 대한 투자를 장려하고 또한 감시할 것임을 강조했다.

​American Investors to inject 100MW Electricity in Nigeria

Abuja — The federal government quest to attract investment into the energy sector and boost electricity supply in the country has received additional boost, as a consortium of American Investors has indicated interest to invest in Nigeria and help develop the power sector.

​

The value of the proposed renewable energy investment is about $212 million and is expected to come on stream by the third quarter of 2015 to inject about 100 megawatts of electricity into the national grid.

The companies that have indicated interest in the project are Global Business Resources USA, Global Resources Network USA, Flatbush Solar USA and Charbourne &Parke, LLP USA.

The Group, which was led by Executive Partner of Global Business Resources, USA, Mr. James Nicholas made its intentions known during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Mrs. Saratov Umar. Nicholas said the group was in Nigeria to explore opportunities in renewable energy development under the umbrella of Power Africa Initiative of President Obama.

According to him, the group has already begun discussion with Abuja Distribution Company and will be visiting Kano for discussion on where to site the project and other logistics.

He added the group is desirous to embark on rural electrification project across the country with a view to supplying electricity to rural dwellers and provide relevant tools or device that will assist in monitoring and securing of electricity infrastructure in the country. Responding, Umar commended the businessmen for their interest to invest in Nigeria and help develop the power sector, which is very critical to the economic development of the country.

She pledged the commission's readiness to provide them with all necessary assistance and support for the smooth take-off of the project in Abuja and Kano, stressing that NIPC as an agency of the federal government is mandated to encourage, promote, coordinate and monitor all investments in the Nigerian economy.
