지역적으로 운영되던 빵집 Perfect Bakery가 운영을 중단해서 400명이 넘는 실직자가 생겨났다.

 

Gift Mabvudza에 의해 운영되던 빵집은 2009년에 운영을 시작했고 문을 닫을 때에는 짐바브웨의 전역에 빵을 배달했었다.

 

짐바브웨의 제빵산업 준법률가인 Gift Maoneka는 the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Industry and Commerce(상공위원회)에 Perfect Bakery가 직원들의 일년치 월급을 줄 수 없었고 이로 인해 올해 8월 21일에 가게 문을 닫게 되었다고 말했다.

 

Maoneka는 직원들이 빵집 소유주가 운영해서 번 수익금을 낭비한 것이 문을 닫게 한 원인이라고 생각한다고 말했다.

 

Maoneka는 “2013년 9월에 Perfect Bakery는 더 이상 직원들과 공급자들에게 돈을 지불할 수 없다고 밝혔습니다.

 이 일은 하룻밤 사이에 일어났고 직원들이 생각하기에 사업이 순조롭게 되어가는 것처럼 보이지 않았습니다.”라고 말했다.

 

“그 해 10월 직원들의 월급을 지불하지 못한 것이 올 해 9월까지 지속되었습니다.”

​라고 Maoneka는 말하면서 직원들은 정식 통보도 받지 못했다고 덧붙였다.

 

또한 “채권자들 중의 일부는 재산을 압류하기 시작했습니다.”고 Maoneka는 덧붙였다.

 

올해 3월에 Perfect Bakery는 167,000달러(우리나라 돈으로 1억7,443만1,500원)가 넘는 금액을

직원들에게 지불하지 못하고 있었다.

 

Maoneka는 그 빵집 소유주가 사업에 투입할 수 있는 자본을 마련할 때까지 임시사법경영자에게 위임되어야 한다고 말했다.

 

“우리는 임시 사법 경영자가 지금 시점에 가장 최선의 해결책이며 자본투입이라는 견해를 가집니다.”라고 Maoneka가 말했다.

 

직원들은 회사를 재생시킬 수 있는 자본을 투입할만한 투자자를 찾아서 Perfect Bakery를 도와달라고 의회에 강력히 권고했다.

 

“이 회사는 500명을 고용할만한 잠재성을 가지고 있습니다. 2014년에 400명이 넘는 직원들을 가질 것이다.

​바로 지금 112명의 돈을 받지 못한 직원들이 존재합니다.”라고 Maoneka는 말했다.

 

올해 8월 21일처럼 하루에 20000개를 생산하는 급감이 있기 전까지

​2010년에 최고 정점에 이르렀을 때에 이 빵집은 하루에 80000개의 빵을 생산했다.

Zimbabwe: Perfect Bakery Closes Operations

 

 

Locally owned bread maker Perfect Bakery has closed operations, leaving over 400 workers jobless.

 

The bakery, owned by Gift Mabvudza, began operations in 2009 and had capacity to deliver bread in most parts of the country at the time it closed shop.

 

Baking Industry of Zimbabwe para-legal officer Gift Maoneka told the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Industry and Commerce that Perfect Bakery had failed to pay workers for a year, leading it to close shop on August 21 this year.

 

Mr Maoneka said workers suspect that the owner squandered proceeds from the bakery leading to its closure.

 

"In September 2013, the company announced it no longer had money to pay workers and suppliers. That happened overnight and from the employee point of view they were not advised and did not see it coming as they thought business was running smoothly," he said.

 

"In October the same year they failed to pay employees their salaries until September this year," he said, adding that no formal communication has been sent to employees.

 

"Some of the creditors also started to attach properties," added Mr Maoneka.

 

As at March this year Perfect Bakery owed workers in excess of $167 000.

 

Mr Maoneka said the bakery should be put under provisional judicial manager until the owner finds capital to inject into the business.

 

"We are of the view that, provisional judicial management at this point can be the best solution or capital injection," he said.

 

The workers urged Parliament to intervene by assisting Perfect Bakery to find an investor that could inject fresh capital into the company.

 

"This is a company with a potential of employing 500 people. As at 2014 it had over 400 workers. As we speak it employs 112 employees who are not being paid," said Mr Maoneka.

At its peak in 2010, the bakery produced 80 000 loaves of bread daily before slumping to 20 000 loaves per day as at August 21 this year.
