Goodbye 아날로그, Welcome 디지털!

- 나이지리아, 디지털 방송으로 전환 -

 

 

국제통신연합(International Telecommunications Union)에서 마감 기한일로 정한 2015년 6월이 다가오고 있다.

나이지리아에서 유일하게 디지털 지상파 방송(DTT)을 허가받은 유료 텔레비전 운영사 Star Times가

연말 전까지 연방의 36개주에 다다르게 하겠다는 계획을 발표했다.

이를 발표한 Star Times의 대표 Joshua Wang은 9개의 채널을 추가 할 계획이라고 또한 밝혔다.

현재 이 제공업체에서 국내 32개 주와 도시에 방송을 내보내고 있다.

그는 “Star Times는 현재 32개 주, 34개 도시에 서비스를 제공하고 있고 계속 확장을 진행 중이다.

이번 해 말까지 우리는 나머지 주와 도시에 서비스를 제공할 것이다.”라고 그의 포부를 밝혔다.

“아날로그 방송에서 디지털 방송으로의 변동에 있어서 2015년은 최종기한 년도이다.

이번 해 말까지, Start times는 나이지리아 전역에 방송을 내보낼 것이다.”

신중하게 고려된 새로운 9개 채널의 명칭은 다음과 같다: Wazobia TV, Cool TV, Da Vinci Learning,

Pop TV, Trace Sports Stars, Star Times Sport 2, Dadin Kowa, Tiwa Ntiwa and QYOU.

“디지털 운영자로서, 우리는 콘텐츠가 매우 중요하다는 것을 이해한다. 따라서 우리는 시청자들을 만족시키기 위해 계속해서

콘텐츠를 업데이트하려고 노력한다. 오늘 우리는 9개의 채널이 추가된다는 사실을 알릴 수 있어서 매우 기쁘다.” Wang은 언급했다.

 Star Times의 홍보담당관 Israel Bolaji가 새로운 채널의 등장은 전반적인 디지털 경험의 촉진을 향한 대담한 조치라고 언급했다.

Bolaji 담당관은 2015년까지 디지털로의 이행에 관하여 말했다.

“디지털로의 이행의 한 일환으로써 우리는 나이지리아인들에게 좋은 디지털 TV를 합리적인 가격에 살 수 있도록 하고 있다.

이는 최종 이행 기간인 2015년까지 이 계획을 현실로 이루어내기 위해서다.

우리는 나이지리아의 아날로그 TV방송에서 디지털로의 이행을 성공적으로 해 나갈 수 있게끔 도울 만반의 태세를 갖추고 있다.

또한 우리는 고품질의 유료 디지털 TV 방송을 제공함으로써 디지털 방송 산업의 혁신을 일으킬 것이다.”

 Star Times의 서비스를 받는 34개 도시는 다음과 같다.

Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Ibadan and Port-Harcourt, Aba, Benin, Enugu, Ilorin, Jos, Kaduna, Makurdi,

Onitsha, Sokoto, Uyo, Yola, Abeokuta, Akure, Oshogbo, Lokoja, Zaria, Kastina, Gusau,

Minna, Lafia, Owerri, Awka, Warri, Calabar, Suleja, Binin-Kebbi and Ado EKiti.

Nigeria: Digital Migration Deadline - Startimes Covers 36 States By December

 

As the June 2015 deadline set by the International Telecommunications Union draws near, Star Times the only licensed Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) pay TV operator in Nigeria has announced plans to reach 36 states of the federation before the end of the year.

 

Executive Officer, StarTimes Nigeria, Joshua Wang, who announced this while addressing newsmen in Abuja, also noted that the network plans to unveil nine additional channels. At present, the service provider has coverage in 32 states and cities across the country.

 

He said: "StarTimes now covers 32 states, 34 cities and we are still ongoing. By the end of the year, we'll cover the remaining states and cities of the country.

 

"2015 is the deadline for movement from analog to digital coverage. Before the end of this year, Star times will cover the whole Nigeria.

 

He named the nine new channels which he said, were carefully selected to enhance digital experience as; Wazobia TV, Cool TV, Da Vinci Learning, Pop TV, Trace Sports Stars, StarTimes Sport 2, Dadin Kowa, Tiwa Ntiwa and QYOU.

 

"As a digital operator, we understand that content is very important, so we try to update our content from time to time to satisfy our audience. Today we are very happy to announce additional nine channels," Wang noted.

 

Also speaking at the event, Public Relations Officer, StarTimes, Israel Bolaji noted that the launch of the new channels was a bold step towards boosting overall digital experience.

 

Commenting on the 2015 digital migration deadline, Bolaji said, "as a platform for digital migration, we are committed to supporting Nigerians actualise the 2015 deadline by ensuring that Nigerians get the best of digital television at an affordable price.

 

"We are poised to aid Nigeria migrate successfully from analogue to digital television transmission and revolutionalise the digital broadcasting industry by providing quality digital pay TV experience that is accessible and enjoyable."

 

The thirty-four cities covered by StarTimes in Nigeria include: Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Ibadan and Port-Harcourt, Aba, Benin, Enugu, Ilorin, Jos, Kaduna, Makurdi, Onitsha, Sokoto, Uyo, Yola, Abeokuta, Akure, Oshogbo, Lokoja, Zaria, Kastina, Gusau, Minna, Lafia, Owerri, Awka, Warri, Calabar, Suleja, Binin-Kebbi and Ado EKiti.
